Azarrah Karrim is a multi-award winning investigative journalist with interests in social justice issues, government corruption and the criminal justice system. After obtaining an Honours in Journalism, Azarrah went on to work as a junior journalist with the Wits Justice Project – investigating human rights abuses in prisons. She then became an intern with News24’s budding investigative team and then moved to the breaking news desk full time before going back to the investigations team as a permanent member. She joined amaBhungane in 2024. Azarrah loves nothing more than to sink her teeth into complex stories that hold power to account.
